Who will be a Light to the World?

A Jewish rabbi around whose teachings the church evolved, declared in the First Century that all in covenant with G-d/Hashem should not hide their light under a basket, but to let it shine before men. Rabbis today would agree but might want to qualify that light as emanating from Torah. But if this is the case, why have neither Christianity nor Judaism already saved the world?

A Light made of love

God's Light, His Torah, is made of love, not enmity. We may know how to turn on a flashlight and how and where to shine it, but without the juice in the batteries, the light won't shine for long if at all.  The same is true with Torah. It doesn't work without "love."

"Remember the Torah of My servant, Moses."  Malachi ends the era of the Prophets with those fateful words predicting that Hashem would send Elijah/Eliyahu in the Last Days who would turn the hearts of fathers to sons and sons to fathers. This had to be a strange word to hear since Elijah had to learn the way of the "still small voice" after a firebrand ministry, which he believed himself, had largely failed.

Reconcile or be cursed

Malachi further warned the descendants of Israel that without the heart of reconciliation of their fathers, Israel will not be united and will also fail, the evidence being a curse on Ha-Aretz, the land of Israel.

Clues abound in the Tanach (Old Testament) describing the roots and remedy of this enmity between two families of Israel that circumvents the Torah from Lighting the World. Namely, the unresolved feud between the House of Joseph and the House of Judah, which earlier resulted in Civil War and an attempt by the House of Joseph to align with Judah's enemies to anihilate Judah. These are serious acts for which there was never a reconciliation before the separate exiles of the Houses of Joseph and Judah.

With the exception of that one rabbi who lived in the First Century, the Light of Judah's Torah has had little impact -- that is evident -- on the Gentile world. However, the centuries of Jews faithfully observing the commandments surely comprise an unseen force bringing forth the Redemption. Neither is Judah unconditionally responsible for Ephraim. Hosea declared to Judah, "so long as Ephraim clings to his idols, leave him alone."

Responsibility lies with Sanhedrin

But the moment Ephraim renounces the sh'tuf (associations with Deity) in its beliefs and embraces the God of Israel and His Torah, the onus of responsibility to reunite, reconcile and return falls again on the shoulders of the leaders of Judah. Specifically, the Sanhedrin, the only ruling biblically ordained body with authority to rule on points of Halachah, is charged with removing the other stumbling blocks to the reconciliation, return and reunion. (See related articles in this newsletter).  Since the theme of reconciliation is one of the major themes ... if not the major theme of the Prophets ... we could conclude that one of the major reasons the Sanhedrin has been revived is to assist with the reconciliation of Joseph and Judah, although the Sanhedrin is charged with all revisions/clarifications related to Halachah and many other duties associated with the "seat of Moses."

The reunion and reconciliation between the family of Joseph and the family of Judah, would command Hashem's blessings and shortly thereafter, manifest the Light of God to the World, according to Scripture.

Isaiah 49:6 re-interpreted

Seems simple enough as Isaiah penned it: "nakeyl (It is easy) ... to raise up the tribes of Jacob and restore the exiles of Israel." The difficult part follows: Hashem's servant must also be given by Hashem (as a gift)  to be l'or goyim (a light to the Gentile nations) and to be y'shuati (My Y'shua or My salvation) unto the end of Ha-Aretz (the earth or land).

Prefaced with the restoration of the exiles of Israel we might wonder whether the Light to the World described in Isaiah 49 has yet begun to shine?  While this prophecy in verse 6 is usually applied globally, it is significant to note that the verb "to save" is spelled the same as the popular acronym for Judea-Samaria and Gaza, Yesha . Also, giving it global connotation is somewhat redundant with the earlier mention of the servant as a "light to the Nations."

A little place called Armageddon

A more localized context makes Judea-Samaria and Gaza, the irrevocable biblical inheritances of Judah (Judea), Joseph (Samaria) and the coastland of the ancient P'lishtim (Yasser Arafat's Hebrew and Arabic name for the Palestinians) the stage for a drama to unfold before the world. Oh yeah, on the tip top of the outline of Judea-Samaria (on the crown of Joseph's head), part of Joseph's inheritance, but not part of Judea-Samaria today, is a little place called Megiddo. At some point in the not too distant future, biblical prophets have predicted a war to be fought there that will affect the entire world. Har Megiddo (Armageddon in Greek) is another reason this area has the world's attention.

A biblical deed in perpetuity

Cam Woolverton, of most blessed memory, was a Texas landman who said it best: "Judea-Samaria belongs to Judah and Joseph in perpetuity. The Bible is a deed to that effect." But then, what about the poor Palestinians, who should at least have squatters' rights to the land, should they not?

It is not quite that simple. If the Light of the World awaits a reunited Israel, as the prophets wrote, and if this involves the reconciliation, reunion and return of the House of Joseph to Judea-Samaria, then Judea-Samaria must be prepared to receive and reconcile Jews and Joes. That is the biblical destiny of Judea-Samaria and the reason it has been set-apart to this day and not annexed into the modern state of Israel.  The Gaza and areas contiguous may be destined to be a habitation for Palestinians, but not Judea-Samaria.

Biblical fate of the House of Esau (Palestinians in Judea-Samaria)

Obadiah prophesied that the House of Esau, Obadiah's own ancestral line, would occupy the fields of the Shomron and the fields of Ephraim at the time Jacob would reclaim his inheritances. Some 1.5 million Palestinians dwell in Judea-Samaria today including a majority who dwell in Nablus (Sh'chem) where Joseph is buried and Ramallah, which is near the correct site of the tomb of Rachel. But Obadiah prophesied, "the House of Jacob will be a fire and the House of Joseph a flame and the House of Esau, for stubble and they shall kindle in them and devour them and there shall not be any remaining of the House of Esau, for Hashem hath spoken it."

This is a dire fate for Obadiah's kin. The President's Road Map to Peace in the Middle East encourages these Palestinians to remain in this region, where the Bible promises their anihilation. In other words, President Bush and the Religious Right who support his road map may be responsible for the deaths of millions of existing and returning Palestinians  -- and untold numbers of Israelis -- by forcing Israel into a domestic policy that is "foreign" to the Bible.

Church ignorant of Y'shua's Gospel to restore the Kingdom to Israel

The church, which still comprises much of Ephraim, also has failed to become a Light to the World, largely because its leaders in the 4th Century fled from or diverted the Light of Torah into the light of idolatry, forbid interaction between church and synagogue and went its own way. Consequently, the church is virtually ignorant that the Restoration of the Kingdom to Israel was/is/should be as much a part of its Gospel as the command to be a Light to the World and in fact, the latter hinges upon the former.

Few in the church hierarchy have questioned the anomia (teachings without or against the Torah) of the church and those who have, have been branded legalists, Judaizers, heretics and worse. To which we respond, the renewed covenant described in Jeremiah 31:31 is the Torah written on the heart or another way of saying that:  a "heart desire" to perform the commandments, statutes and judgments of the Torah. And in this we find no legalism except from those without the Torah in the heart.

The same Gospel relating the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus/Y'shua also demands that the true followers of Jesus/Y'shua stand with the modern state of Israel against a Palestinian State in Judea-Samaria. "That which you do unto the least of these my brothers -- and Jesus was a Jew -- you do also unto me." That is how Jesus/Y'shua defined the judgment of hellfire and the selection of Jacobian sheep over Esavian goats.

Esavian spirit at enmity with God of Israel and Jacob

Those who dwell in the fields of Ephraim and the fields of the Shomron at the time Jacob is reclaiming his inheritances are defined in Obadiah as the House of Esau, not the more peaceable House of Ishmael.  So, while it may look like the Palestinians are squatters with legitimate rights to dwell in the land of Joseph, Obadiah warned they are of the spirit, at least, of Esau, and in Malachi's words, "the border of wickedness, and the people against whom Hashem hath indignation forever." (Malachi 1:4b). To understand this judgment from Hashem, Esau and Jacob must be understood as their mother, Rebecca, knew them ... separate l'umim (manners of people) and separate nations since birth who cannot dwell together in peace. One always suffers at the other's expense.

The land of Joseph sought by the Palestinians as part of their state is the birthright of Jacob for which he compensated Esau by feeding him when he claimed to be starving to death and which he wrested from the hand of the Amorite. Any nation demanding that the birthright be returned to Esau merits the very worst of biblical curses because of the black road associated with revoking a birthright.

Sympathy sickness spread by media mantra

Since much of the spirit of Esau also resides within the church and among the nations, the sympathy sickness has been contagious, spread mostly by a prejudiced network and secular media that began its every report about Judea-Samaria since the early 1980s with a monotonous mantra that has fogged the mind: "Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories."

But politics and land aside, the obstacle hindering the Light of God from shining to the World is this unreconciled enmity and vexation between the the House of Judah led by the tribe of Judah and the House of Israel, led by Ephraim who was a son of Joseph -- and about 4000 years of malice, misunderstanding and mischief. Until they are reconciled, "UNITED Israel in the minds of the prophets, doesn't exist. The world waits as a yo-yo spinning in hesitation mode for the finger jerk from God which will regather the Yizra'el (Jezreel) which Hashem scattered.

Melo ha-goyim and the rescue or return of all of Israel

Something is happening, however. The population of Joes continues to multiply among all nations, ethnicities, races, languages and tongues. Each day, the Joeish world approaches more closely the critical mass necessary to become the melo hagoyim (fullness of the Gentiles specifically involving the multiplication of Ephraim as per Genesis 48:17ff). Paul wrote of a great mystery involving Ephraim's identity as the melo hagoyim and upon which the rescue or return of all of Israel would hinge. (Romans 11:25-26).

To know Who?, we need to know What?

Determining who should shine forth the Light of God also begins with agreeing on what this Light is. Personally, I opt for the belief that the Light is the Light of the Torah, the code and values by which God desires mankind live and govern himself and be prepared spiritually to experience His Maker and the Spirit of His Maker.

In a mystical way, Y'shua/Jesus personified this Torah through his teachings about morality and character. But he also was conceived during Hanukkah, born on Simhat Torah, betrayed during a Passover Seder and crucified on the first day of the counting of the Omer, all of which represent stages of redemption, purification and preparation in the Torah.  But the gift he promised his followers:  the Ru'ah Hakodesh, (Spirit of God) reportedly was received by them on Shavuot in Jerusalem. And that is the day that the Torah was given to Moses at Sinai. It is hard to conclude that Jesus came to do away with the Torah as much of the church believes. Rather in his own words, he came to "fill it full" of meaning and not one yad or taggin should depart from it.

The nature of Judah's covenant

How the Assembly following the teachings of Jesus strayed so far from the Torah is also addressed elsewhere in this and other websites, but his admonition as recorded in Matthew 7:22-24 is a specific warning against doing anything against the Torah.  The greatest confusion I have encountered in my study of stumbling blocks that separate Joseph and Judah, (and block the Light), has been the "handed-down" beliefs, which are usually the mark of a heretic if questioned. The main objection non-Jews have to Torah, for instance, is NOT the good deeds or values it encourages and reinforces; rather the mistaken belief that "Jews think they can get to Heaven on their good works when they (the church) knows Jesus is the only way."

It may surprise many clergy of the church to know that salvation also comes to the Jew by the election of God by grace and on the virtue of the Jew's covenant with God at the time of circumcision, which is out of the control of an infant Jew. At adulthood (bar-mitzvah), a Jew may decide the level of commitment he has to the covenant, but regardless, his covenant extends to his next generation so long as his sons are circumcized.  And, unlike the Christian covenant or even the earlier terms at Sinai, the covenant between Hashem and the House of Judah contains a proviso forbidding revocation. (Hosea 1:7).

'The Way, The Truth, The Life':  Who Am I?

The works of a Jew may have some bearing on his/her reward in the World to Come, but have no bearing on his or her qualifications for entry. Further, when Jesus stated, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no man comes to the Father except by me" we submit that he did so as a parable or proposing a riddle of Psalms 119, where the way/truth/life (derek/emet/cha'im) are clearly the commands, precepts, statues and ways of Torah so firmly lodged in the heart of King David because of his love of Hashem. Y'shua/Jesus earlier spoke in this same D'rash (parabolic mode) when he said, "Before Abraham (was) I am," since the Torah -- in some form -- was present with Hashem at Creation. "If you know me (the Torah), you know the Father," and "the sower (Hashem) soweth the Word (Torah)."

'Blind leading the blind'

Unfortunately, these teachings on a mystical level have been interpreted literally, despite his warnings that he spoke only in parables. And without the guidance of Torah scholars, the church has, against the warning of Jesus/Y'shua become the "blind leading the blind."

'Fog of the mind fogs the soul'

But the Torah's light is a light to the soul ridding it of its metote (which the Native American Hopi were the first to describe as the "fog of the mind"). The fog of the mind fogs the soul. Being delivered of this fog is a "stage" of redemption to "purify the mind in order to serve the living God."

Renewed covenant ministry of Jesus/Y'shua begins with prayers of Judah to find lost sheep of Israel

The light has been shining and searching for the House of Israel in exile at least since the ministry of Jesus/Y'shua began and possibly with a prayer from the sages of Judah after the murder of Gedaliah that the Holy Torah should come and find the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel. This is the only prayer Judah has ever uttered which was not directed to Hashem, but rather to His Torah.

The true ministry of Jesus/Y'shua

These are also the words that Jesus/Y'shua himself would later echo: "I am sent only to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel."  And they agree with the prophecy spoken about Y'shua before his birth and at his infancy in Luke 1-2. The careful reader will discern his mission to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel is related to remedying the three judgments (Yizra'el, Lo-ruhamah and Lo-Ami-- Jezreel or the seed God will sow, Without mercy and Not My People ) of Hosea 1, which were pronounced not against Judah, but against the House of Israel only.

However, instead of being the Lights to the World it was meant to be, and helping to accommodate this return and reunion as part of its ministry of reconciliation, the church has instead occupied itself with deifying and glorifying Y'shua. This despite the warning in Revelations 22:8-13 that his followers were not to bow to him or worship him.

Divine commission to restore Israel

The missive of the church true to Jesus/Y'shua is to become lights to the Nations and that light is to shine ... before it may spread worldwide ... from Judea-Samaria, the place of reunited and reconciled Joseph and Judah.

Witness the last words of Jesus/Y'shua when asked, "Master, will you at this time restore the Kingdom to Israel." First, the question comes from his Jewish followers, who fully expected the Anointed One of their era to at least initiate the reunion of the two houses of Israel.  According to a Hebrew translation of the Aramaic Peshita dated no later than the 4th Century but with traditions dating it to the late First Century, Jesus/Y'shua answered in this way:

The receiving of power and Kabbalah

"It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But t'kabelu (you shall receive) power when the Ruah Hakodesh (Holy Spirit) comes upon you; v'tihyu li l'eydim (and you shall be to me for a witness) in Jerusalem and in all Judea-Samaria and until liktzot Ha-Aretz (the borders or extremeties of the land).

The receiving of this power is perceived to be s'gulah or mystical since the verb of its transmission is that from which the whole tradition of Kabballah (that which is received) originates. This is also suggested by the mystical link between the counting or contrasting of the seven lower Sefirot (the manifestation of the Godhead bodily as the reNewed Testament refers to them), as a light unto the soul. The activity of counting and contrasting the Sefirot occurs between the second day of Passover (on which Y'shua was crucified) and the celebration of Shavuot or Pentecost, 50 days later which commemorates the giving of the Torah. The counting or contrasting of the attributes of hesed, g'vurah, t'feret, netzach, hod, yesod and malchut over this intervening 49 days reveals the state of his soul to the one who contrasts these Sefirot during the counting of the Omer.

Witness to Y'shua or to Y'shua's cause?

Another question raised by the Peshita translation -- which may be crucial for the Revived Sanhedrin to decide -- is whether it has been the commission of the followers of Y'shua to witness about him or, more correctly, to witness about his mission. If the latter, the church has spun its wheels for 1600 years -- since its leaders steered it away from the Torah and the Sanhedrin should have no complaint with Y'shua or his message only with the aberrations of it by the church.

If the latter, which we have clarified earlier, relates first to the reunion and restoration and reconciliation of the Houses of Joseph and Judah, nothing should hinder reunited Israel from becoming a Light to the Nations.  However, the church has either gotten the cart before the ox or slaughtered the ox altogether with its disregard of its responsibility to assist in the restoration and reunion and ministry of reconciling Joseph and Judah. In making the Gospel message instead, "all about Jesus," the Torah prohibition against idolatry as applying to the worship of any "god" purportedly equal to or "under" Hashem has been violated.  All of this stems from the church failing to comprehend the exegetical link between Hosea's judgments spoken against the House of Israel and Y'shua's mission to remedy them, as explained above.

Increasing politicalization of the church

Ironically, the increasing politicalization of the church and its involvement with right-wing politics can work positively -- in the aftermath of whatever fiasco and curses result from the anti-biblical Bush Road Map. But the church must spiritually relocate into the mainstream of the move of the Holy Spirit. In the last words of Jesus/Y'shua, that movement occurs in the End Times in which we now live and pertains to the restoration of the Kingdom to Israel.

The conditional peace between Judah and the Palestinians

The long-awaited unity of Israel itself awaits an invitation from Judah and a place for the House of Joseph to return. That return for now, awaits the humanitarian transfer of the Palestinian people out of Judea-Samaria and into the borders described in Zechariah 9: Gaza, Ashdod, Ashqelon and Ekron and regions contiguous therewith. Not only peace between the houses of Joseph and Judah, but Judah's peace with the Palestinians who vacate Judea-Samaria figures into the Light of the World emanating with love.

Zechariah described this as a conditional peace at the End of Days when the hearts of all mankind are unto Hashem as all the tribes of Israel. The condition: When the blood would be removed from their mouth and the abominations from between their teeth and their pride would be broken, THEN, the Plishtim shall dwell in peace as a clan among Judah. (Zechariah 9:1-6)

Y'shua's words mirror Isaiah

Finally, the reference by Jesus/Y'shua that the Light coming from Yesha  show forth "until the kitzot (extremeties or borders) of the land," mirrors the proclamation in Isaiah 49:6 and clarifies that its context is Yesha and not worldwide. The Light to the Nations resulting from the reconciliation and reunion also becomes Hashem's salvation ad kitzeh Ha-Aretz (until the border (singular) or extremity of the Land).

It seems in the best and mutual interest of the World and Israel for Hashem's plan to be manifest in Yesha . Jesus/Y'shua clarified that this would occur in the Last Days after a move of God that would "pour out His Spirit" upon all flesh. This End Times move begins as did the Assembly of Jesus' followers, first in Jerusalem. But then it spreads to Judea-Samaria and from there to the borders of the land.

Deadline faced by Beit Yoseif to complete the Redemption

A 2008 deadline, about which we have written elsewhere, exists for Beit Yoseif (the House of Joseph) to be returned and make a national tikkun (repair of the breach) for the sins of Jereboam, the Ephraimite leader of the Ten Tribes who led them astray and into idolatry.

The Rambam (Moshe ben Maimon or Maimomides) wrote in agreement. "The Redemption is not complete until Israel is returned to its place and exalted status."

Yet, Jacob in his last words to Joseph and his sons, prophesied that a Rov , (majority) would come from Joseph through Ephraim. A light from somewhere is attracting Ephraim to Hashem, to the Torah, to the Land and to reunite and reconcile with Judah.

Harvest is still white, laborers still few

If the followers of Y'shua/Jesus are to fulfill their Divine commission to be the Lights to the World, they must begin mirroring his thinking which is rooted in Torah and Halachah. The dogmas of the church must come into line with the synagogue. The priority of the church must become the restoration of the Kingdom to Israel which must be recognized as much a part of the Gospel as its message of covenant for the Assimilation of Israel and the Gentiles. Indeed, the restoration of the Kingdom to Israel for which the harvest is still white and the laborers still few, is the Gospel OF not about, Jesus, which he said should be witnessed in all of the world before the end would come.

Shalom, Shalom & Hashem's love & blessings & Hag Someah!

Mapping the problem

The outline of Judea-Samaria (above) shows that the northern two-thirds of the proposed Palestinian state (according to the pre-1967 borders), forms a partzuf of a head and crown. The two maps below show this region as (A) the biblical inheritance of  Ephraim, M'nashe and part of Benjamin or the non-Jewish House of Joseph, who is promised its return to the biblical Birthright. (Jeremiah 31:15-18, Hosea 2:1-2, Isaiah 49, and others)

and (B) A 3-D map of Israel (above) that shows Judea-Samaria is the high ground, containing all of the mountains of Israel, except the small Carmel range near Haifa. High ground given to a hostile neighboring state, spells S-U-I-C-I-D-E.

The non-Jewish House of Israel will reunite with the Jewish House of Judah 'ON THE MOUNTAINS OF ISRAEL'  (Ezekiel 37:22)

And how to solve it:

A sacred use for Judea-Samaria (to reunite Joes and Jews) mandates a different region for a Palestinian state. Thus "The Zechariah Plan" introduced below.
