War … in the absence of Ephraim

Leadership by ‘House of Israel’ in exile

can prevent more war, lead to peace

The head and crown region of biblical ‘Judea-Samaria’ are the possessions promised to the non-Jewish children of Rachel more than 2,700 years ago.Head and crown outlines ancient Birthright of Joseph in the fields of Samaria and the fields of Ephraim.

The prophet Jeremiah writes of Rachel, beloved wife of Jacob and mother of Joseph and Benjamin, weeping for her children because she fears they no longer exist. But in His attribute of Justice tempered with Mercy,Grandfather promises Rachel “your children shall come again to their own border.” (Jeremiah 31:15-18)

This remarkable cry of Rachel who rested in a tomb apart from Jacob 800 years before Jeremiah “hears and records” her intercession, is sandwiched between references to Ephraim, as the “bechor” (Firstborn entitled to the “bechorah” – Birthright) in verse 9, and as a young bull unaccustomed to the “yoke” of Torah in verse 18.

The House of Joseph

Rachel’s intercession links directly to the progeny of her youngest grandson through her firstborn, Joseph, but indirectly to all of the non-Jewish “House of Joseph.” This includes the Manassah of eastern Asia found by Rabbi Eliyahu Avichayil mostly among the Shinlung of Burma and Thailand; and East M’nashe (so far linked to 38 Native American tribes, including the five nations of the Apache and the Navajo. See reprint of Ancient American magazine research at www.torah-voice.org/AAcovermarch2011.htm). Benjamin is also part of Joseph’s house defined in spiritual terms since the divining cup of Joseph was found in his sack. Benjamin’s divided loyalties between the House of Joseph in the north and the Jerusalem Temple in Benjamin’s Jerusalem precincts means Benjamin exists today among both the Jewish community and assimilated Joes.

Where is the voice of the Firstborn?

The Firstborn with the voice of the Firstborn and who was given the Birthright (the head and crown region depicted in the picture-story in the outline above, generally known as the “fields of Ephraim and the fields of the Shomron) ” is Ephraim. Where is Ephraim? Should theologians view this dramatic change in the Middle East as the “propitious time” for Ephraim to come out of exile to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian quagmire?

The best evidence of Ephraims whereabouts comes from Jewish scholar Yohanan Hevroni ben David (John Hully) who established Ephraim’s identity as the Beit ‘Omri (House of Omri) in Assyrian exile. ‘Omri was a northern king who was respected by the Assyrians for his military prowess.  More than 100 years after his death, the people of the Northern Kingdom of the House of Israel were called by the Assyrians, “the House of “Omri.” But outside of the land of Israel, ‘Omri is pronounced Gomeri. The prophesied intermarriage and assimilation between a Hebrew family from Shem and the Gomeri from Yaphet, begins to fulfill the earliest biblical prophesies by Noach that the descendants of Shem and Yaphet would somehow dwell together. (Genesis 9:27, 10:2)

Ezekiel 37:22 states that the Houses of Judah and Israel will be reunited “on the mountains of Israel.” The only mountainous region aside from the small Carmel range near Haifa and the Sinai now in the hands of Egypt is “Judea-Samaria.” The recent rocket attacks from Gaza indicate that the Palestinian leadership cannot be trusted with high ground.

The Torah forbids Israel to intermarry among the nations. Only the Jewish and Native American communities have remained relatively intact.  The assimilation of Shem and Yaphet then occurs through the exile of the Shemite Northern Kingdom to the lands of Gomer in Ancient Assyria.

Linguistic clues ID ‘Ephraim’ as ‘Kymri‘ (Cimmerians)

Linguistic research has identified the Beit Gomeri as the Cymri (Kymri) or Cimmerians, when the name passes through Greek and English. These are the root stock of the Anglo-Saxon and Celtic peoples who settled — after traversing Europe — primarily in the Scandinavian countries to the north, and along the coast of Normandy before crossing the British Channel to populate Scotland and Kymri (Wales). The Cimmerians also populated Ireland. This means that the non-Jewish House of Israel is loosely described as the descendants of “Cimmerian” settlers across Europe and the colonization of and by Europe in the Americas and around the world. In other words, Ephraim is a multi-national, multi-ethnic people fully assimilated into every culture, language and people around the world.

Ephraim was/is also the biblical “group name” for all of the Northern Tribes of Israel in their exile. True to the prophecy of the example of the marriage of Hosea and Gomer, Ephraim has been scattered to the four winds, without mercy and totally disowned by God. The transition of Grandfather’s relationship to the Northern Tribes is telling in Hosea 1.

The Covenant Name of Mercy

He still is heard by His Divine Name connoting the Attribute of Justice tempered with Mercy when Jezreel is named, (literally the “seed God will scatter”).  Jezreel (Yizra’el in Hebrew) also evidences a change of the name “Israel” to mean “scattered seed.”

Lo-ruhamah (Without Mercy) is a name given when Grandfather’s relationship changes from the Divine Name connoting Justice tempered with Mercy to “Elohim” (God) or He in His Attribute of Strict Justice. The same relationship exists when the third child, Lo-Ami “Not My People” is named.

That connection to the Mercy of God remained for Israelite East M’nashe, however, whose exile occurred from 17-23 years prior to that of the remaining House of Israel residing west of the Jordan. This is evident with the permutations of the Divine Name, (the Hebrew consonants Y,H and W and H) sung and drummed with different vowel sounds among virtually all Native tribes. Ancient Hebrew sages say this is the name of Grandfather when He deals with Israel according to the terms of His Covenant, “Justice tempered with Mercy. “ The name of Mercy is known by those never removed from His covenant, the House of Judah and East M’nashe.

‘Unaccustomed to the yoke’

The name of His Strict Justice is known by those renewed or restored to His covenant (largely via the Church). But true to Jeremiah’s prophesy this branch of assimilated Ephraim has either disdained or never fully returned to the Torah  it once counted “a strange thing.” As a bullock unaccustomed to the “yoke of TorahEphraim within the Church abandoned its Torah foundation. Clearly, however, Jesus was sent to these scattered sheep and not the faithful of Judah or East M’nashe because these had no need of a renewed or repaired covenant, Instead, exile makes Restoration of the understanding of their original covenant paramount.

Attack commemorates 21 years of stopped ears

The Israeli attack in response to hundreds of unanswered Gaza rockets until last week marked the 21st anniversary of the Madrid Peace initiative. During those talks, “The speech nobody heard,” which tied the Torah read during the 8 days of those talks to the subject of the talks was published on the religion page of The Jerusalem Post. Israel’s choice of last week to retaliate means that same speech is still relevant because neither the Israelis nor Palestinians have heard or taken to heart.

‘Speech Nobody Heard in Madrid’ outlines biblical peace, contiguous Palestinian State

Repeated by demand from Above are the essential facts, now made crucial with the destruction wrought by this war. Strategically, Israel may be preparing for a confrontation with Iran by first exhausting the supply of Hamas missiles and perhaps Hizbullah missiles. Or is Hamas causing Israel to expend its expensive Iron Dome defense capabilitities? Regardless, the human dimension to this war and its outcome dictates a contiguous Palestinian state with permanently established BIBLICAL borders conditioned upon the end of the violence and bloodshed and on agreement that the modern Jewish state has a right to exist – The Zechariah Plan. See www.torah-voice.org

The two readings from the Torah during the Madrid talks, emphasized that the tomb purchased by Abraham for his wife Sarah cost him way too much silver but he did not object.  Instead, Abraham made it clear to the Hittite from whom the tomb was purchased that it would be an “ACHUZAT kever.”

Arab confederacy claims possession of ‘ne’ot Elohim’ (tombs) in Israel

Achuzat is a Hebrew noun from the verb achaz which means to “grasp or hold” something. So the tomb was a burial (kever) “hold” and an early LEGAL entitlement of the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to the land promised their descendants by Grandfather. Others are the tombs of Rachel, the site of the Jerusalem Temple and a field purchased by Jeremiah at Anatot, a northern suburb of modern Jerusalem. Also, the “Kever Yoseif,” at Nablus, which was ancient Sh’chem. The tomb of Joshua, a descendant of Joseph, is believed to be located on the moutaintops of Itamar to the southeast of Nablus. Other tombs include that of Dan between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Ancient tombs establishing ancient Israeli “holds” to the land dot the landscape.

Psalm 83 points out a confederation of Arab nations who conspire against Israel in order to boast that the “ne’ot Elohim” are “ours for a possession.” These are the “tombs of the righteous” as evidenced by King David’s description of being “made to lie down in a “ne’ot” (or green pasture). The forces opposing the Return of the House of Israel to be reunited with the House of Judah appear focused on claiming the spiritual stronghold of the “tombs.”

Christian tzaddik, Jewish tzaddikim, all ‘sons of God’

Just as Christians look to their tzaddik moshiah (righteous anointed one) on an “empty” cross, Orthodox Jews often pilgrimage to tombs of the righteous believing the tzaddik (righteous one) lives with one foot in this world and the other in the World To Come. Having overcome his/her evil inclination, he/she intercedes in both worlds for whomever honors him/her by visiting him/her while alive or his/her final resting place. This intercession is clearly stated in the case of Jesus, who like all tzaddikim were known as “sons of God,” but according to the meaning of this identity according to Halachah. See www.torah-voice.org/thedisputations.htm.

Two conflicting nations, peoples in womb of Rebecca

The Torah reading also established that Rebecca, wife of Isaac was having a difficult pregnancy. The Hebrew indicates someone was “running around” inside her womb. She went to a prophet who explained that she would give birth to TWO NATIONS and TWO l’umim (singular l’om). These are different and conflicting mindsets, ideologies and lifestyles. Rebecca was told Jacob and Esau would be rivals from the time they emerged from the womb and would NEVER find harmony. One would always be in ascendancy over the other. It is natural to see how this prophecy has been fulfilled in terms of the faith of Esau and the faith of Jacob.

The account of Jacob’s faith is recorded in Torah and the books of the Prophets. But Esau, the natural adversary of his brother, has gravitated toward the Koran, and the most radical interpretations of it. The words of Esau’s blessing by his father Isaac are telling. After Isaac is deceived by Rebecca into giving the blessing of the Firstborn to Jacob instead, Esau is told:

Is war a call for State of Israel to repent? Are Palestinians aggrieved?

“Behold of the oil of the Earth shall be your dwelling and of the dew of the heavens from above. By your SWORD you shall live, but your brother (Jacob) you shall serve; yet it shall be that when you are TAREED (aggrieved), you may cast off his yoke upon your neck.”  (Genesis 27:40)

This is not your ordinary grievance. This is a grievance that is tied to the blessing Jacob received, which his father, Isaac, had intended for Esau.

The sages of Torah believe Esau’s right to throw off the yoke is conditioned upon the Torah disobedience of Israel. If Israel observes the Torah faithfully and not casually, the yoke on Esau remains but if Israel observes only casually, Esau not only throws off the yoke, but becomes Grandfather’s “sword” against Israel.

The sword of Allah for Israel’s disobedience, Hamas embodies Esau

This is evidenced by the vow made centuries later by all of Israel for all time at Mt. Horeb to BOTH Grandfather and His Allah! The vow in Deuteronomy 29:11ff clarifies that the blessings in the previous chapter for Torah obedience come from Grandfather and the curses alluded to “by the sword” come from His AllahIslam or the form of radical Islam adopted by Hamas. This means Hamas is spiritually embodying the “House of Esau.”

Another biblical prophet, Obadiah, the only prophet whose words are recorded in the Bible who is descended from Esau, warned his people (today’s Palestinians) that when Jacob would return to his possessions (which began occurring about 1917), he would find those possessions occupied by the House of Esau . Further those Palestinians who remain in this Birthright region, would be annihilated. (Obadiah 17ff). This establishes the spiritual identity of the “occupiers” as Palestinians who occupy Jacob’s possessions, not the other way around as the British mandate and the media have asserted for the past 30 years. “Israeli occupied Palestinian (or Arab) territory” is how the Birthright has been falsely characterized by media since it became “No Man’s Land.”

Throwing off the yoke tied to ‘united strength’ of Arab confederacy

The feeling that Esau may now “throw off the yoke” because Israel has become largely a secular (meaning non-observant) Jewish state comes at a time when the Arab world is feeling its oats led by the Moslem Brotherhood. The Brotherhood now controls Egypt and has helped Hamas overcome a major obstacle. When Hamas uprooted control of the Gaza from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in 2007, former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak agreed with Israel to close the borders of Gaza. Reopening those borders appears to be the major term from Hamas of this cease-fire, and a major concern to the Israeli leadership due to the likelihood that Hamas will simply re-arm.

The top Hamas leader in exile, Khaled Mashaal, is stirring up the Arab world with talk that the 22 Arab nations are now stronger than Israel if they act in concert. Overall, Hamas is in a strong position to negotiate a truce deal, Mashaal claims while safe himself from Israeli attack. He cites the new diplomatic support since the Arab Spring, Hamas’ popularity in the Gaza and the large arsenal of rockets.

The Koran’s ‘holy war’ in two parts

Mashaal’s comments seem to be code words to the radicals among the Koran-faithful that the Arab Spring has united the Arab nations and their duty is to now “win the war.”

The Koran dictates this holy war in two parts. First there is the war of peace, which means one makes a treaty with his enemies ONLY until he becomes the stronger party. So “peace”, “truce”, or “cease-fire” in the Koran do not have the same meanings to the Western world. This may explain why it is necessary for Israel to always exact more force than has been exacted against her. Anything less is a sign of weakness to the radicals who follow Islam. When the Koran-faithful perceive themselves to be the stronger party, then the second part of the war kicks in.

War to the death

The war to the death applies to all lands that were at any time under the domain of Islam according to the literature disseminated by Hamas in the late 1980s. That would include Israel and Jerusalem although Muhammad never came to Jerusalem and the city is mentioned only in connection with a dream of Muhammad that his horse ascended to Heaven from the Rock today under the Dome of the Rock, the site where Isaac was offered and elevated.

Wells dug by Isaac, father of Jacob and Esau could locate border of Palestinian state

Isaac succeeded his father Abraham in the Torah portion read as the war erupted last week. He mystically offers a solution that could lead to a permanent end to hostilities … if Ephraim will step forward and claim his Birthright and Israeli and Palestinian archaeologists can locate the wells and Negev sites of Sitnah, Esek and Rehovot.

Sitnah, from the Hebrew “Satan” and Esek connote “enmity” and “vexation.” Wells dug by Isaac’s servants were claimed by the Philistines in whose land Isaac then sojourned. But when Rehovot was dug, the Philistines did not protest and Isaac was able to sojourn in peace. Find these wells somewhere in the Negev and you have the eastern border for a Palestinian State, which should minimally include the fertile Sh’felah and its five crop rotations yearly. The northern border may be alluded to by the prophet Zechariah as the Israeli cities of Ashquelon or Ashdod. (See my blog on “Boundary Stones”). If so, this would expedite the state with the infrastructure of a modern Israeli city. But all of Judea-Samaria would be absent of Palestinians and permanent borders would be established between Esau and Jacob.

Bush Road Map, Pre-’67 lines usurp biblical birthright, relate to economic curse

The Bush Road Map to Peace in the Middle East is alleged by Apache (Gershonite priests assimilated with never uncovenanted East M’nashe, www.torah-voice.org/AAcovermarch2011.htm) to be at the root of the present economic curse on America and all nations who side with America in promoting a Palestinian state on Ephraim’s Birthright. The Road Map would have forged a Palestinian state out of the pre-1967 lines, which would have sandwiched Israel between Gaza and Hamas to the south and west and the formerly called “West Bankof the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the north and east.

Curiously those pre-1967 borders define the outline of a crown atop a man’s head, the head and crown falling entirely within the borders of Rachel’s kids.

Ephraim needed to assert Birthright claim

If Ephraim will stand and claim his Birthright, then “Judea-Samaria,” which has been the biblical name for the “West Bank” for the past 2,500 years, will be removed from the table as part of a Palestinian state. The region must accomplish what its name is prophesied to do: Return, reunite and reconcile the never reconciled families of the House of Judah (led by the kingdom of the House of David) and the House of Israel (led by the monarchy of the House of Joseph replaced by the Samaritans when exiled). In that dispute today mostly over Halachah (or how one practically walks out the commands of Torah), unless Palestinians would be willing to become part of the separate l’om (people) of Jacob through observance of Torah or minimally accept the Seven Laws of Noach, which preclude murder and “hamas” (violence), Palestinians would be out of place.

Hamas rockets abuse Palestinian role in peace, betray insincerity but Zechariah Plan awaits

Grandfather’s way is to close one door before opening another. The door to peace with Hamas rule of the Gaza is shutting. The Palestinian abuse of even closed borders (to acquire thousands of rockets) betrays an insincere partner for peace until that leadership is reformed or replaced.

A concept drawing of a contiguous Palestinian state according to the borders mentioned in Zechariah 9: The Zechariah Plan.

Regardless, a door to redraw a separate and contiguous and peaceful Palestinian state should open when the smoke clears from this war, after Israel has preempted Hamas rockets and possibly Hezbullah rockets and marginalized Syria’s chemical agent capability and taken out Iran’s nuclear reactor. Until then, the ultra-Nationalistic pride of the Palestinian people, which Zechariah wrote also would be removed – must be removed. When Palestinians are serious about peace, the Zechariah Plan – based on Zechariah 9 – awaits.

Zechariah envisioned contiguous Palestinian state, Return of Joes

This plan redraws the Palestinian state to include the Gaza and contiguous regions north and east of the Gaza, including parts of the fertile Sh’felah, which enjoys up to five crop rotations a year. The modern Israeli cities of Ashquelon and/or Ashdod are mentioned by Zechariah as possible northern borders. Certainly with Gaza’s infrastructure bombed to Hell, these two cities would meet that need. The leading reason the World Bank decided earlier this year that the Palestinians are not ready to declare a state relates to inadequate infrastructure. The present war has aggravated this shortcoming.

In exchange for this far better alternative than Judea-Samaria, the Palestininan population would vacate en masse the “fields of Ephraim” and “the fields of the Shomron” or the Birthright possessions of Joseph, which would become the possession of neither Jews nor Palestinians, but could be annexed by the State of Israel for the Return of the House of Joseph.

Boundary stone discovery lends credence to ‘contiguous Palestinian state’ hinted by biblical prophet Zechariah

As many are astonished concerning you thus: “an outline from a man!” … “his features mirror the sons of Adam!” Thus he shall startle many nations. Concerning him, kings (rulers) shall shut their mouths because that which was not told to them they shall see and that they had not heard they shall meditate to themselves

NOTE:  Whenever we are critical of persons or policies, we do no service to anyone without proposing an alternative. The alternative proposed to the George W. Bush Administration’s Road Map to Peace in the Middle East is the “Zechariah Plan,” researched by MbY from 1996-99 and calling for a contiguous Palestinian State in the region generally known in the Bible as the “Plain of the Philistines.” MbY submits this exegesis for consensus and collegiality as the support for mutual disengagements and a humane version of the Cherokee Removals, the plan’s international precedent.

Tel Gezer Boundary Stone

The discovery of a 13th boundary stone at Tel Gezer, historically the border between Judea and the Plain of the P’lishtim announced last week, reinforces — from Heaven — the Zechariah Plan as a biblical alternative contiguous Palestinian state.

Ashdod, Ashquelon and Ekron are modern Israeli cities

Biblical alternative contiguous Palestinian state defining Plain of P’lishtim

and communities with local governments, schools, businesses and their own infrastructures. But if Israel and the Palestinians are unable to resolve their differences and war results, these regions nearest the Gaza could lie in ruins.  In fact, the biblical prophet, Zechariah, predicts that Ashquelon will not have inhabitants.

He makes this prediction for a time when “all of the people are looking to the Lord” concerning a burden of the Lord about Damascus and Syria, a scenario on the ground today.

Prophecy linked to burden in Syria

Obadiah, the only Edomite biblical prophet, foresaw none of his people, the House of Esau, remaining in the Birthright territory of Joseph in Judea-Samaria (the “fields of Ephraim and the fields of Samaria” in the former West Bank of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan). These fields comprise the lowlands in the mountains and valleys and make up the head and crown region of the outline above. Obadiah wrote that at the time Jacob would be returned to these possessions, they would be occupied by “the House of Esau.” Since the Palestinians today occupy this region, it is a logical conclusion that the House of Esau today occupies the possessions of Joseph and they must be relocated to avoid a blood bath.

Which brings us again to the prophet Zechariah’s End Times prophecy which alludes to a “population exchange.” These “mutual disengagements” would allow two separate but contiguous states to permanently separate two incompatible l’eumim (mindsets, ideologies or lifestyles). See www.torah-voice.org/Biblical_road_map.htm.  A contiguous Palestinian state comprising the ancient Plain of the Philistines would have as its northeastern border, Tel Gezer and would comprise Ashdod, Ashquelon and Ekron, the Gaza and the adjoining fertile Sh’felah, which affords up to five crop rotations a year.  It also allows a Palestinian state bordering Egypt, the nation with whom most Palestinians align and from which a great number if not a majority have migrated.  A contiguous Israeli state that would allow incorporation of Judea-Samaria without legitimizing the antithetical ideology of Hamas and Palestinian “ultra-Nationalism” could then proceed.

Zechariah’s prophecy should be primary source material

First, a little about Zechariah.  He was a prophet and priest who wrote about events in the far-distant future called the Last Days.  Chapters 9-11 involve Israel’s dealings with the nations, beginning with the people known as P’lishtim, which is the plural of the name, P’lishti, by which Yasser Arafat referred to the Palestinian people. In a Last Days context, therefore, Zechariah’s prophecy should be primary source material in formulating foreign policy with Israel that agrees with the Bible. The real irony is that the support base for the proposed Palestinian State in Judea-Samaria, the so-called “Road Map to Peace in the Middle East,” proposed during the administration of President George W. Bush, comes from the Christian Religious Right, which has been supporting an anti-biblical position.

9:1-2:    “The burden of the word of the Lord: in the land of Hadrach and Damascus its rest, when to the Lord shall be the eyes of man as of all the tribes of Israel. And in Hamath also which bordereth thereby; in Tyrus and Zidon, … though it be very wise:”

Timing of state relates to burden in Syria

The Lord is burdened by something going on in Hadrach, an out-lying region of Damascus (its — Hadrach’s — rest), Damascus itself, Hamath, another region in Western Syria that bordered Lebanon, plus two Mediterranean coastal regions in Lebanon. Tyre, in Southern Lebanon is below the Litani River and therefore part of biblical Israel. It lies on the same latitude as the northernmost Israeli settlement of Kiryiat Sh’mona. Sidon lies a few miles to the south of Beirut and on the same latitude as Damascus.

It is important to note that the time of this burden is ci l’adonai eyn adam v’kol shivtei Yisrael when or because the eyes of man as of all the tribes of Israel are looking to the Lord.  Something is taking place in Syria that has the world’s attention and which the Lord considers a burden.

The comment about Zidon being very wise is what you might call “tongue in cheek.”  This qualification gives it an End-Times context, since it refers to the time when the tribes of Israel are looking to reunite while this concern unfolds in Syria.

Revival of the House of Joseph

Zechariah prophesied after the 10 Northern Tribes of Israel led by the House of Joseph were exiled. The timing for this burden relates to the reviving of the House of Joseph, the major two tribes of Israel who remain in exile. The burden may even relate specifically to the preparation of the land for these non-Jewish exiles of Ephraim and M’nashe to return. We mention this possibility because Zechariah 10:10 indicates that when the House of Joseph returns, they will be so numerous that the land will not be able to contain them and they will spill over into Lebanon (today controlled by Syria and the Iranian Hezbollah) and the Gilead, which is in today’s Jordan and the ancient inheritances of Israelite East M’nashe, Gad and Reuben.  Israelite East M’nashe has been identified with 38 Athap(b)ascan Language Group nations including six who relocated to the Four Corners region of the American Southwest:  The five nations of the Apache and the Navajo.

9:3-4:    “And Tyrus did build herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets. Behold, the Lord will cast her out, and He will smite her power (in, by means of, with) the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.”

Early Persian influence in Lebanon

Tyre was one of the fortified cities of the Canaanites mentioned in the Book of Joshua. Like Gaza and the land of the Philistines, Tyre was never fully conquered by the Israelites. Its inhabitants were never called Tyrians, but rather Sidonians, coupling its fate with Sidon to the north.  The great wealth for which the Sidonians were noted was acquired under PERSIAN rule, establishing an early claim to the region by Persia (modern Iran).  As we reported in a special edition of Jerusalem Vistas magazine: Apocalypse Now: Mixing Religion and Terror, published two weeks before the World Trade Center bombing in 1993, the expansion of radical Islam closely correlates with the spread of the ancient Persian empire. Today, Iran (Persia) masterminds this spread throughout the Middle East and controls the sheikdoms of especially radical Shi’ties. Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah in Lebanon, was also complicit in the Shi’a insurgency in Iraq.

Civil war would spread to Lebanon

The civil war about to erupt in Syria is sure to spread to Lebanon where the Persian Shi’ia radical Islam alluded to in this scripture are on the ground today in South Lebanon.  All eyes are on Syria.  The verses below indicate a major disappointment among the Palestinians connected with Syria.

Tyre also was a divided city, partly on the mainland and partly on an island that once existed connected by a causeway. The island is today submerged but ruins of a castle built into the mountainside with numerous cave entrances are still discernible on the mainland.  While many biblical scholars claim this judgment uttered by Zechariah already has taken place, they have no explanation for its “re-occurence” at the time the “eyes of man as all of the tribes of Israel are toward the Lord” and “Syria.”  Nor do they dispute that all of Zechariah’s other prophesies do pertain to a future time. There is also no existing record of any war between Israel and the Sidonians in Tyre and Sidon.  However, inhabitants of Tyre descended from Esau betrayed the House of Judah when it went into exile by turning in those who had escaped the Babylonian invasion and siege of Jerusalem.

9:5-6:    Ashkelon shall see and fear; Gaza also and be very sorrowful, and Ekron that her expectation hath been ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the P’lishtim.

Destruction seen suggests different scenarios

The destruction in verse four is SEEN not heard by the inhabitants of Ashkelon, Ashdod and Ekron. Given the Mediterannean wind currents, a fire in or explosion in Lebanon or Syria could not be seen from Gaza and these regions in the far south. In our day, this alludes to some kind of media coverage of some devastating event in Lebanon and/or Syria … in the Last Days.  Fear, sorrow and shame about some kind of expectation or hope results. In the context of current events, we would submit that any manner of scenarios are possible.  Far fetched though it may sound, Israel could open the Good Fence in South Lebanon and allow Syrians who have relatives living in Israel in as refugees disproving many of the Palestinian suspicions. Or, as many foresee, Damascus could at this time become a “ruinous heap,” due to some kind of devastation, entirely possible in the context of current events and retalliation against the brutal Assad regime.

The mamzer (Heb. bastard) who lives in Ashdod is a bit of detail that awaits further clarification. Ekron, like Ashdod and Ashquelon are Israeli villages and cities constructed in the Plain of the P’lishtim.  Expectations that turn to shame occur between both Palestinians and Israelis at the time of whatever transpires in Syria and Lebanon.  You could say Ekron, Ashdod and Ashquelon “expected” to be part of the modern Jewish state and that expectation was “ashamed.”

Ashamed expectations suggests mutual disengagements

This ashamed “expectation” gives credence to mutual disengagements of Palestinians from Judea-Samaria and Israelis from the Plain of the P’lishtim.  The international precedent for these disengagements is the Cherokee Removals of the 1830s, although we would hope for a more humane and abbreviated version since no one would have to move further than five hours away and it all could be accomplished in a few weekends.  The Central Band of Cherokee under former Principal Chief Joe Sittingowl White proposed such a mutual disengagement plan with guarantees that all Removed — Palestinians and Israelis — would be relocated to better homes, orchards, lands and environs than they left.

The Lord’s promise to “cut off the pride of the P’lishtim” could be interpreted according to current events as the means to “dash the hopes of the Palestinian people for a state in Judea-Samaria.”

Palestinian designs on Judea-Samaria given cruel hope by U.S. State Department

Palestinian designs on Judea-Samaria have been given false and cruel hope by the U.S. State Department and the Bush Administration’s Road Map to Peace in the Middle East.  President Obama and the U.S. State Department in insisting on a Palestinian state according to pre-1967 lines continues the policy that would result in a Palestinian state that usurps the Birthright of Joseph.

9:7:    And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: and he, even he, shall remain for our God, and he shall be as a chief in Judah, and Ekron as the Jebusite.

Death of ultra-Nationalism signals radical move toward peace

Once the expectation for a Palestinian State in Judea-Samaria ends and the Palestinian people accept the Israeli leadership of the nation, the Palestinian people undergo a radical change toward peace. The verse literally suggests that the P’lishtim even adapt their lifestyle to eating kosher meats, although figuratively it suggests the end of the terror with shouts of “Allah Akhbar,” and violence and the abominable language in the Palestine National Charter calling for the destruction of the Jewish state.  Promises to remove this language have been made but not fulfilled.

The language “aluf” (chief or master) in Judah, implies that there may be no independent Palestinian state, however this would not rule out autonomy for the Palestinian people living in this contiguous area within the nation of Israel when the Palestinians who would be relocated to Ekron become as the peaceable Jebusites.

9:8:    And I will encamp about Mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now I have seen with mine eyes.

God-fearing Palestinians ‘remain for our God’

Contextually, the “house” God will encamp about is the new God-fearing Palestinian people “who shall remain for our God.”  These Palestinians would have their own autonomy in the regions of Gaza, Ashqelon, Ashdod and Ekron and probably the fertile Sh’felah adjoining them. God will protect those Palestinians who live in this area from the Israeli army, from instigators of trouble or oppressors passing through and from those returning, clarified two verses down as the House of Joseph.

Palestinians who leave Judea-Samaria will have safe haven in this autonomous Palestinian state within the nation of Israel as long as they live there in peace. But for those Palestinians who do not leave Judea-Samaria, the fate is dire. (See Obadiah 17ff below). Their hearts will be hardened and harbor the hatred of Esau toward Jacob, evidenced by Obadiah calling them “the House of Esau.”  This was predicted 3,700 years ago — long before the conflict materialized into Israelis vs. Palestinians

9:9    Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout O daughter of Jerusalem: behold thy king cometh unto thee:  he is just and deserving to be helped; lowly and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Repentant Palestinians called ‘daughter’ of Zion, promised protection by God of Israel

Traditionally, this verse is believed to refer to the coming messiah. HOWEVER, contextually, once the Palestinian people have rid themselves of the mindset of Palestinian ultra-Nationalism, they are also called by God, a “daughter” of Zion and Jerusalem. He will send Israel a king who will be just, deserving and humble, possibly the king messiah.

9:10:    And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the nations: and his dominion shall be from sea to sea and from the river od ofsei eretz (even to the ends of the land).

Ultra-nationalist Palestinians promised destruction

The chariot of Ephraim may refer to the mass annihilation that will occur in the northern two-thirds of Judea-Samaria in the inheritance of Ephraim due to Palestinian resistance there. Or it could refer to the war-like nature Ephraim has become in his assimilation (another theological treatise for a later time).  As Obadiah phrased it , “at the time Jacob returned to his inheritances,” the fields of the Shomron and the fields of Ephraim  — both regions that are the inheritance of the House of Joseph — would be occupied by the House of Esau.

“And the House of Jacob would be a fire and the House of Joseph would be the flame and the House of Esau for stubble and they (Jacob-Joseph) would kindle in them and devour them and none would remain from the House of Esau.” (Obadiah 18).

U.S. State Department plan promises certain death to millions of Palestinians and returning refugees

As I have tried repeatedly to warn the last four American administrations, the worst thing the U.S. State Department can do is promote a Palestinian state in Judea-Samaria.  It means the eventual certain death of Palestinians living there now and the millions of Palestinian refugees who would return.

Our State Department, in taking the portion Jacob promised Joseph as his Birthright and handing it to Esau, is betting against the Bible. Judea-Samaria is set aside by the God of Israel for the return, reunion and reconciliation of the House of Joseph with the House of Judah.

The Return of the House of Joseph

In our June 6, 2006 Newsletter, we present the case for the identity of M’nashe among the wave of Chicano immigrants coming from the South into the American Southwest after earlier migrations from Aztlan, the Native Homeland in the North in proximity of the Four Corners.  Recent research published in Ancient American magazine, has shown that the majority of the Four Corners nations are a remnant of Israelite East M’nashe.  See www.torah-voice.org/AAcovermarch2011.htm. M’nassah whose homeland is west of the Jordan, have been located among the 2 million starving and oppressed Shinlung in Burma and others in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Koreas and virtually all of Southeast Asia.  (Yes, brothers have fought brothers in all the World Wars and in Vietnam and Korea. See the May 15 blog titled Happy Mother’s Day for insights on ending “violence in the Earth.”)

Ephraim is an assimilated people most heavily concentrated in the isles and coastlands of the Earth. Therefore, the biblical policy the U.S. State Department should be pursuing is to help the Chicano people and persons being displaced from coastal regions due to hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes and various Earth changes relocate to the inheritance of the House of Joseph. As the prophet Isaiah stated in the context of this return, “Send Me your Not Comforted (one of the judgments against the House of Joseph), homeless and “tempest tossed.”

Bill those who have profited off Mideast conflict

The oil companies and major defense contractors who have benefited from decades of State Department and CIA intervention in the Middle East on their behalf should contribute some of their obscene windfall profits toward picking up the tab for this relocation as well as the relocation of Palestinians from Judea-Samaria into the Gaza-region state. It is only fair, after all. State Department policies that have resulted in death and destruction in Israel, the Gaza, Lebanon and Iraq were put into effect to keep the energy sector profiteering on, lower-priced-than-could-be-produced-domestically, Arab oil.

Back to the exegesis. This king who will unite the nation of Israel with its Palestinian “state” therein will be an emissary of world peace. His dominion is defined here within the context of the borders of Greater Israel … or possibly a broader context that encompasses the entire world.  Again, another treatise. The Hebrew suggests either context.

9:11    As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

Plight of Palestinians compared to that of Joseph in a pit

If the “thee” in verse 11 refers to the daughter of Zion in verse 9, it fits with the context of a repentant Palestinian people. Today, their plight appears as that of Joseph, who was thrown into a pit where there was no water. His situation looked hopeless. The House of Joseph comes out of that pit biblically and historically with the renewed covenant made possible by the blood of Jesus (Y’shua) and spiritual gifts commensurate with that covenant.  The same is promised to the Palestinian people when the violence and terror ceases.

On the other hand, the “thee” in verse 11 could refer to this emissary of world peace, whose covenant earlier applied to the assimilation of the non-Jewish House of Israel led into exile by the House of Joseph. In this case, the prisoners would depict the House of Joseph who would be free to return.

9:12:    Turn you to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope: even today will I bring again unto thee a maggid of double peace.

Shalom Shalom and Grandfather’s love & blessings,

Maggid ben Yoseif

The spiritual dimension of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.  Her book, ‘The Mighty and the Almighty,’ prompted the following review in May 2006 titled, ‘The Mighty and the Almighty and Abraham’s seed.‘  These insights are still timely and still lie at the root of a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

In her recently published book, “The Mighty and the Almighty,” former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright states that U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East must “use religion to find unifying factors.”

Traditionally, religious factors were believed to be divisive in dealing with the Middle East conflict.  The old adage that “politics and religion don’t mix,” has been the unstated policy in the State Department since the U.S. first involved itself in the Middle East. But because all three major monotheistic faiths stem from the same root — the seed of Abraham – Albright believes there are positive virtues to explore and emphasize in negotiating peace among Abraham’s feuding families.

The prophet Isaiah expressed the same sentiment 28 centuries ago:

“Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for he was alone when I called him, and I blessed him and increased him.” (Isaiah 51:1-2).

Are Judaism, Islam and Christianity prepared to recognize Joseph?

President Clinton’s former head of state, who learned of her own Jewish roots, with this advice has put our foreign policy ideologically on the right track. But we wonder whether the Jewish, Islamic and Christian worlds are prepared to go there?  This is because when the synthesis of the religious beliefs of ALL of the children of Abraham is understood, it will lead to … the Return of the House of Joseph, which currently is recognized by none of the three.

We advocated Albright’s approach in 1991 the week of the Madrid Peace Conference, which initiated unilateral negotiations between the Israeli government and Palestinian leaders.  In a column for the Religion Page of The Jerusalem Post entitled, “The Speech Nobody Heard,” we quoted the Torah portions, Chayei Sarah (the life of Sarah) and Toldot (offspring), which were read in Orthodox synagogues around the world as the Madrid negotiations commenced and ended.

An exegesis (analysis of the Hebrew text in historical-grammatical context) of Genesis 23 within Chayei Sarah, describes the “burial site” Abraham purchased for an exorbitant amount to bury his wife, Sarah. Genesis 23:4 states the tomb was an achuzat kever.  A kever is a tomb. But the verb, achaz from which achuzat is derived means to “grasp or hold.”   The tomb of Sarah in Hebron later became the Tomb of the Patriarchs, where Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their wives are buried.  This tomb was the first bond or tie to the land of Canaan promised to Abraham and his progeny. It would draw him and his descendants and hold them to the land.

Hearts of the fathers needed to reconcile sons; curses not without a cause

The attributes of God  in dealing with Abraham are emphasized repeatedly in portion Chayei Sarah (Genesis 23-25:18) as chesed v’emet. Chesed is difficult to define in one or two English words, but it is the ability to be kind to someone in spite of how they treat you or what they say about you. Emet is Truth, almost always associated with an understanding of Torah.  There is much need for chesed between Israel and the Palestinians, both progeny of Abraham. But the Truth also cannot be ignored.

A great spiritual law affects the universe. It is called m’dah k’negged m’dah, what “goes around, comes around” or “whatsoever a man sows, that also shall he reap.” Everything in the universe revolves around this principle … including the invention of “religion.” Certain events have brought about religious ideology.

In the beginning there was only Abraham, who was neither a Jew nor a Christian nor a Moslem.  But Abraham had enemies. However, every weapon Abraham’s enemies formed against him, wound up being used against them!  Both the pharaoh in Egypt and Abimelech, the king of Gerar in the region of the modern Gaza Strip, attempted to humble Abraham’s wife, Sarah. As a consequence, the Torah states, God brought plagues on Egypt and closed the wombs of all of the women of Gerar.

“I will bless those who bless you (Abraham) and those who curse you, I will curse,”  (Genesis 12:3a).  Everything done to harm the “seed of Abraham” – be they descendants of Ishmael or Isaac — will ultimately backfire.

The blessings of Rebecca, mother of Jacob and Esau

When a wife was chosen for Abraham’s son, Isaac, her Aramean family “blessed Rebecca and said to her, ‘Our sister, may you come to be thousands of myriads, and may your offspring inherit the gate of its foes.’” (Genesis 24:60)  On its face, this prophecy would apply to all of the progeny of Issac and Rebecca.

Meanwhile, Chayei Sarah ends with the geneaology of Ishmael, Abraham’s son by his wife’s maidservant, Hagar, who was not allowed to inherit with Isaac.  Ishmael was sent into the desert and plains of Paran in the Sinai peninsula and married an Egyptian woman.  But God promised that Ishmael also would become a great nation, like Abraham, with descendants too numerous to be counted. But he would also be a “wild ass of a man; his hand against everyone, and everyone’s hand against him.” (Genesis 16:12)

We can conclude from Portion Chayei Sarah that the family of Abraham through Rebecca would have enemies but with Ishmael’s fate sealed outside of the inheritance of Isaac, those enemies would relinquish their land to Isaac and Rebecca’s descendants.  Chayei Sarah points to a future conflict involving Abraham’s inheritance, the land we call the land of Israel.

Religious conflict centers around Birthright

Albright states in her book that the conflict is not just about land. It is also about religion.  Portion Toldot validates her contention.

The main theme of Toldot is the birthright and two contenders for the birthright:  the first born son of Isaac and Rebecca named Esau, and Ya’acov (Jacob) who was so named because when Esau was born, Ya’akov was still in the womb but grasping the akeiv or heel of Esau with one hand.

It was a difficult pregnancy for Rebecca. In fact, the sages of Torah compare her pregnancy to the “birthpangs of the messiah.”  In other words, just before the advent of the two messiahs – moshiah ben Yoseif and moshiah ben David – these sages wrote that the conflict between descendants of Esau and descendants of Jacob would intensify.

As the intensity of the conflict between the two children in her womb increased, and they “agitated” within her, she “inquired of the LORD.” (Genesis 25:22).

The prophet’s wisdom to ‘separate the l’umim’ of Rebecca applies today

The LORD’s words to her are the same words He would have for us today in understanding and attempting to reconcile this 3,700-year-old family rift.

“Two nations are in your womb; two l’umim from your insides shall be separated; the might shall pass l’om m’l’om (from one to the other), and the elder shall serve the younger.”  (Genesis 25:23)

A l’om (plural l’umim) is a similar ideology, mindset or philosophy that unites people.  Clearly the LORD instructed that Esau and Jacob have different ideologies that will conflict.  Since this began in the Other World (the womb before birth), the sages of Torah say it will be an eternal conflict, as history has thus far borne out.

If the sages are correct, the best foreign policy would be to support two contiguous states so that the interaction between Israelis and Palestinians would be minimal. The Road Map to Peace in the Middle East, which embraces the same pre-1967 borders for a Palestinian state advocated by the Obama Administration, would place part of a Palestinian State in Judea-Samaria, the heartland of biblical Israel and the other part in the region of the Gaza. These regions are not contiguous as the modern State of Israel surrounds Judea-Samaria on three sides and lies between it and the Gaza strip.

Despite the high wall Israel is building around its borders with the projected Palestinian boundaries, it is reaching to say that these are “separate” states.  More than 170,000 Jewish settlers currently live in Judea-Samaria, the so-called West Bank (of the former Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan).  And the true biblical heirs — the House of Joseph — are still getting their acts together in exile.

Other questions that arise from this prophecy are “What will cause the might to pass from one to the other?” Who is the elder? How shall the younger be served by the elder? Why this discrimination between the elder and the younger? And, is this in fact an eternal conflict or does it have a resolution?”

1.  What will cause the might to pass from one to the other?

The sages, particularly the Rabbi Vilna of Ga’on, wrote extensively on this topic.  They discerned that the only factor that gives the descendants of Jacob rights to the land in which Abraham sojourned instead of Esau, is “Israel’s” observance of the Torah.  This is because the l’om (separate ideology) of Jacob was spiritual, while the l’om of Esau was material.  Thus, some 2,300 years before Muhammad was given his Revelation of Islam (submission to Allah), which would place Esau on a spiritual track, the fabric of “regime change” was built into this religious ideology.

If Israel will observe its Torah, Esau cannot ascend. But if Israel does not observe the Torah, the LORD will cause Esau to rise in ascendancy over Israel. Outside of Jerusalem, Israel is largely a secular, non-spiritual state. Thus, Israel’s intensifying conflict with Esau.

But the modern Jewish religious leaders believe Esau is an offshoot of the Roman Church. Some of Esau’s migrations can be traced to Rome. In the First Century, King Herod was installed by Rome. He was an Edomite or descendant of Esau.  Because of the anti-Semitism of the Church, its identity with Esau has stuck.

One of the prophets of the Bible also was an Edomite.  Obadiah has quite specific warnings for his fellow descendants of Esau in the future.  He wrote that at the time when Jacob would reclaim his inheritances, that land would be occupied by the House of Esau. Obadiah makes specific mention of the territories belonging to the House of Joseph, the northern two-thirds of the Palestinian state proposed by both Bush administrations and the Clinton and Obama administrations in Judea-Samaria (the West Bank).

“And the House of Jacob shall be a fire and the House of Joseph a flame and the House of Esau for stubble and they shall kindle in them and devour them and there shall not be any remaining of the House of Esau for the LORD hath spoken it.”  (Obadiah 17:18)

Allah, Islamic fundamentalism foretold in Torah as separate, ‘anti-Israel l’om’

More about this prophecy below. Whether Esau was historically associated with Rome and the Church, there is a volatile element within Esau today living in the “West Bank” (biblically Judea-Samaria) inheritance of Joseph. If Obadiah is a true prophet, the House of Esau living there will be either removed or annihilated to the last man, woman and child unless these descendants of Esau heed the prophet’s warning and leave the region.

The conflict between Esau and Jacob is also written into the religious fabric of both families. Esau, along with the descendants of  Ishmael who are of a similar anti-Israel l’om, would gravitate toward Islam.   Amazingly this is foretold or alluded to in the Torah of Moses, which defines the religious ideology of Israel.

After the LORD had Moses read a litany of blessings and curses that would follow Israel into their Promised Land and their entire history, (depending on whether they observed or did not observe the covenant at Sinai), Moses renewed the Covenant in the hearing of those who survived the 40 years in the Wilderness:

“You are standing today, all of you, before the LORD your God: the heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers – all the men of Israel; your small children, your women, and your proselyte who is in the midst of your camp, from the hewer of your wood to the drawer of your water, for you to pass into the covenant of the LORD, your God, and into His ALLAH that the LORD, your God, seals with you today, in order to establish you today as a people to Him and that He be a God to you, as He spoke to you and as He swore to your forefathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. Not with you alone do I seal this covenant and this ALLAH, but with whoever is here, standing with us today before the LORD, our God, and with whoever is not here with us today.  (Deuteronomy 29:9-13)

On the heels of the pronouncement of the blessings and the curses, ALLAH appears here as an agent or attribute of Judgment of the LORD to enforce the curses Israel would bring on itself by failing to observe the Covenant.  This is consistent with the interpretation of the earlier prophecy to Rebecca by the sages of Torah that Israel stands only by the Torah and is cursed according to an ancient oath, if she is not a nation of Torah. That curse causes Esau to rise in ascendancy over Jacob.

2.  Who is the elder? How shall the younger be served by the elder?

The Torah states clearly that Esau was the firstborn of Isaac and Rebecca because he was the first out of the womb. However, the sages deduce that Jacob was the first to be conceived according to the same adage of a popular means of recording inventory, “the first in is the last out.” Since the elder is destined to serve the younger, this is an important question.  Before the outbreak of the Palestinian uprising in 1987, the Palestinian people were a “servant people” to the Israeli population. Much of the construction and manual labor of building Israel was the job of Palestinian Arabs.

3.  Why the discrimination between the elder and the younger?

To answer this question, we must understand the importance of the Birthright and why, according to the sages, Esau was not suitable for it and Jacob was.  Keep in mind that the criticism the sages of Torah have expressed against Esau is primarily aimed at the mistaken notion that the vast majority of Esau today is solely the Roman Church and its offspring and does not include the Palestinian people.   Also, these are writings that predate the Revelation of Muhammad in 616 C.E. by at least one thousand years. Therefore, these writings were not aimed at the Arab peoples or the Palestinians when they were first penned.

The right of the firstborn to the Birthright ended when Esau spurned his and sold it to Jacob for a pot of lentels in a fit of hunger. The firstborn would continue to receive an inheritance (with the inherent responsibility to accommodate other family members when necessary). But Jacob chose none of his own sons to pass on the Birthright he purchased from Esau, to the next generation.  Centuries later, the prophet Jeremiah would proclaim of the LORD,  “Ephraim (the second-born of Joseph) is my bechor (firstborn).” (Jeremiah 31:9)

Of the 22 letters in the Hebrew aleph-bet, to spell bechor, one uses the 2nd letter, the 12th letter and the 20th letter, all seconds, giving the word a gematria or numerical value of 222.  Historically, neither Abraham nor Issac nor Jacob, nor Joseph nor Ephraim were firstborn although Joseph did open the womb of Rachel.

The sages concluded from this that the bechorah (the Birthright) was a spiritual entitlement that entailed spiritual responsibilities. Esau, a hunter, was not inclined toward spiritual matters. Jacob was.  Esau married two Hittite women who were a source of spiritual rebellion to Isaac and Jacob.  This signed his fate because the Hittites were one of the people of the land of Canaan who Israel would later displace. Had Esau been given the Birthright, the Hittites would have been legitimate heirs to the land promised to Abraham.  Also, the spiritual deficiency in Esau is noted because there is no record in the Torah of him even referring to God. This almost gave Jacob away to Isaac when Jacob, prodded by his mother, Rebecca, usurped the blessing his father had intended to give to Esau.

Birthright made of ‘spiritual fabric’ that fit Voice of Jacob but not Hands of Esau

When asked how he was able to so quickly find game and prepare it, Jacob told his father, “Because the LORD your God arranged it for me.”  If Rebecca had not made him wear the skin of goats on his smooth arms and neck, Isaac would not have been deceived:  “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are Esau’s hands.”

The oral traditions recorded in the Talmud also allude to Jacob leaping in Rebecca’s womb when she would be in proximity of a place of study.

The sages also wrote that Jacob had intended to give the Birthright to his son, Joseph. But after Jacob was reunited with Joseph in Egypt, thinking he had died some 22 years earlier, the various spiritual functions of the Birthright were divided. On his deathbed, Jacob decreed that Judah obtain the scepter of the king until Shiloh comes.  Levi was destined for the priesthood.  Prophets would come from any of the tribes.

Traditionally, Shiloh is a mystical name associated with the messiah son of David.  However, Shiloh is located in the inheritance of Ephraim and this prophecy may allude to the split of the Kingdom of Israel into two houses, Judah to the south and Israel to the North, ruled by an Ephraimite descendant of Joseph named Jereboam. The coronation of his kingship was at Shiloh.

It appears conclusive that the Birthright was made of spiritual fabric and it did not fit Esau.

4.  Can this “eternal conflict” be resolved?

As Obadiah stated plainly, “None from the House of Esau shall remain.”  For our U.S. State Department to attempt to accommodate Esau in Judea-Samaria is akin to taking the Birthright from Jacob and returning it to Esau. This merits a curse, under which every facet of American experience is currently laboring.

But those Palestinians who will renounce the character of Esau and relocate from Judea-Samaria (for which the LORD has other purposes – mainly to reconcile the descendants of Joseph and the descendants of Judah) do have a future and a bright one.

The prophet Zechariah wrote that in the contiguous region of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashqelon and Ekron, the Palestinian people would “remain for our God.” But God would first “take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth” and  would “cut off the pride of the Palestinians (Heb. P’lishtim).”  This all appears prefaced by a judgment of some kind in Syria and Lebanon that would cause the Palestinian people to “see and fear” and “be sorrowful” and “see that her expectation hath been ashamed.” (Zechariah 9:5-7)  All of this is to occur, according to Zechariah 9:1 “when the eyes of man as of all the tribes of Israel shall be toward the LORD.”

Other ideologies destined to join with Israel when he becomes ‘the man’

As Isaac was blessing Jacob, thinking he was Esau, he told his son, “Peoples will serve you and l’umim will prostrate themselves to you; be a g’vir to your brother, and your mother’s sons will prostrate themselves to you; cursed be they who curse you, and blessed be they who bless you.” (Genesis 27:29)

This means that other ideologies are destined to join with Jacob’s or at least pay homage to it. It means also that Isaac charged Jacob to “be a man” (g’vir) to his brother Esau and then Esau would also bow to him. A g’vir is a special type of man; one who is “strong” since the word comes from the verb which means “to be strong.” Also, “g’vurah,” (inner strength) was the overriding attribute of Isaac, father of both Jacob and Esau.  This is also an allusion to the descendants of Jacob’s ownership of Eretz Yisrael (the land of Israel), since Isaac strength was derived from the land itself.  His entire life, after being elevated on the altar of stone on Mt. Moriah by his father, Abraham, he never left the land.  The sages say he was so connected with the land that had he left, it would have diminished the holiness and strength of the land.

The question becomes how can Israel “be the man”?  As we wrote in 1991, part of the answer is in the words Isaac later spoke to his son, Esau, when he learned of the ruse perpetrated by Rebecca to secure the first blessing for Jacob.

“Behold a g’vir have I made him over you, and all his brothers I have given him as servants; with grain and wine have I supported him, and for you, Where – What can I do, my son? (Genesis 27:37).

Note carefully the question, Where? This implies that the land Isaac would later connect to Jacob in a blessing yet to come, would be different than the land Esau would “inherit.” Yet, the responsibility of the Birthright to care for the needs of your other kin, defines and in my mind clarifies that the descendants of Jacob should “be a man” to the descendants of Esau.

Does Palestinian uprising constitute the prophesied farak to a tareed?

Given Isaac’s fondness for Esau and his game, he spoke to Esau:  Behold of the shemen (oil) of the Earth shall be your dwelling and of the dew of the heavens from above. By your sword you shall live … but your brother you shall serve; yet … it shall be that when you are tareed, you may farak his yoke from upon your neck. (Genesis 27:40)

Now the question before a father who does not want to play favorites between his two sons is whether all of this is fair. Despite the kind words he summoned from his reserve, he sentenced Esau’s descendants to servitude. But Isaac left a reserve clause.

When not if descendants of Esau are tareed by descendants of Jacob, that verdict of servitude ends.

Tareed is the second person, masculine singular form of the verb “to flatten, stamp or beat.”  It also means to “beat out, beat down or subdue.” Neither the Torah nor all of the Prophets nor all of the Writings (the entire “Old Testament”) nor the New Testament mention this tareed by descendants of Jacob against descendants of Esau occurring. In fact, when Jacob and Esau are reunited, all of Jacob’s sons and Jacob and his wives bow to Esau.  The same writings are replete with instances when Jacob’s descendants were the victims of Esau’s descendants.  These include documented acts of aggression from a family of Esau called the Amalekites. Esau-Edom also celebrated when the Kingdom of Judah went into Babylonian exile and when the Jerusalem Temple was destroyed.  In modern times, there have been celebrations in Ramalah as Scud missiles fired from Iraq fell on Tel Aviv and other parts of Israel. Less we forget, Ramalah also celebrated when the Twin Towers in America fell.

Defining tareed in the Palestinian uprising and ‘being a man’

Some would argue that Israel’s response with guns to rocks and with tanks to guns is overkill and may define tareed, making the Palestinian intifada a just cause to farak the yoke on Esau’s neck.

Farak is the verb to cast off some type of yoke or oppression. It appears in Lamentations and in the Psalms as “to deliver.” It would appear to be a legitimate term to express the Palestinian intifada or uprising.

But …  even the Arab leadership in the Middle East would argue that “being a man” means “being in a position of strength” as a deterrent in dealing with one’s enemies.  The Palestinian National Charter contains a plank calling for the annihilation of Israel. The new president of Iran is sounding the same call. Hamas, an Islamic government supported by Iran, is now in charge of the Palestinian leadership in the Gaza.

So maybe responding to rocks with guns and to guns with tanks is a matter of preservation for the modern Jewish state. And Israel cannot be cited for overkill without charging the U.S. with the same crime in Iraq.  Subjugation and occupation come with their own rules in the Middle East.

How to make peace with one’s enemies

So now, the question becomes, “How does one make peace with his enemy?” Isaac answered the question. “Be a man,” he said, “and your brothers will bow to you.”

One of the first things that became apparent to me in 1987 when I first lived in an all-Moslem East Jerusalem village was the segregated educational and public transportation systems. There was an Israeli bus station, centrally located, modern, clean and efficient. The Arab bus station was dimly lit and smelled like urine.

There were Israeli schools and Palestinian schools. Israeli settlements in the “West Bank” were lighted with quartz halogen lights; Palestinian villages … not as bright. The quality of roads, infrastructure and security was far inferior in the Palestinian sector while it was administered by Israel.

U.N. refugee camps,State Department interference, Bush-Baker deals, Arab Nations complicity

I don’t intend to blame the government of Israel for these inequities. Much of the responsibility lies with the United Nations who built refugee camps for the Palestinians after the 1967 War for Independence, which turned out to be inadequate. With inadequate budgets to maintain them, they became squalor for which Israel was unjustly blamed.

The interference of the U.S. State Department and outright extortion by the administration of George H.W. Bush and his Secretary of State James Baker to withhold loan guarantees from Israel unless it halted settlement in Judea-Samaria interfered with Israel’s ability or inclination to assist Palestinian infrastructure.

Before these demands were made to former Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, the inequities WERE being addressed in the Israeli media and joint Israeli-Palestinian efforts were being made to address them.  But the1991 Gulf War changed everything.  Bush and Baker had agreed to push a Palestinian state IN JUDEA-SAMARIA at war’s end, as a condition for Arab nations NOT to align with Saddam against the U.S. and its allies.

The 22 other Arab nations also bear some responsibility.  With one day’s revenue from their oil wells, any Arab nation could relocate the entire Palestinian community — if they so desired.  But the Palestinian people serve as a propaganda tool against the State of Israel to the world.  By their intentionally withholding assistance, these Arab nations, want to portray the Palestinians as the proverbial “whipping boy” of Israel and have attempted to promote this lying image with the help especially of American media.

American news media most to blame

Yes, my former colleagues in the media are the most to blame. The American media is responsible for the mantra “Israeli-occupied Palestinian terriroties” which redefined Judea-Samaria as “occupied territories” and raised false hopes for the Palestinian people.  CNN handed out camcorders like they were cheap cell phones so Palestinians could “stage” demonstrations and capture the Israeli reaction.

Thirty years ago, working as a copy editor on a major metropolitan daily in the U.S., I confronted this lie so often in Associated Press and New York Times reports, that I made a macro key on my old VDT terminal to change these phrases to the more accurate and non-editorializing “Israeli-administered territories.” I almost got fired for doing so!  The media mantra largely had Americans and most of the world convinced that Judea-Samaria is Palestinian land when the God of Israel has reserved it to reconcile two squabbling families — the Jews with the Joes soon to arrive.  That false impression — and false hope remains today.

Threat concerning loan guarantees, U.S. pressure constitute ongoing curse

These loan guarantees were vital to Israel’s economy, so threats of their withdrawal initiated a “curse” against Israel.  Cursing Israel comes with the promise that the curse will land on the head of the nation or those who foment the curse — America.  Demanding a halt to infrastructure development  in Judea-Samaria, promises to do in much of America’s infrastucture. Katrina (Little Qatar) was a message to the heart of America’s oil patch from the Persian Gulf. Weather events, including the Perfect Storm that took aim on then President George H. W. Bush’s retreat at Kennebunkport, Ma., and massive outbreaks of flooding, tornadoes  and fires will not abate until the language of that curse is remedied.

A generation of Palestinian children ‘go to Hell’

A popular diddly that the smallest elementary school children in that West Bank village would sing as they would skip home from the bus stop could be translated, “First there will be no Saturday and then there will be no Sunday.”  That sounds confusing until one realizes that Friday is the Moslem Holy Day.  The mayor of this small village, who allowed me to live on his son’s rooftop for several months, expressed it better than anyone I’ve heard:  “Our kids are going to hell.”

Because Israel had failed to “be the man” by failing to integrate its school system, an ideology has been allowed to bud and sprout and ferment and rot the minds of a generation of Palestinian children with hatred and dreams of martyrdom as suicide bombers.

I was sent to the Moslem Palestinians in 1987 – by God – to deliver a message to about a dozen Palestinian men who were part of the Avuhaval and Sa’ayad clans.   These were largely peaceful Palestinians who set their clocks by Jordanian time and had pictures of the late King Hussein of Jordan hanging on their walls.  They would gather in the afternoons around some picnic tables where they would smoke water pipes outside a small grocery store adjacent to the mayor’s son’s house where I had lived on the rooftop.

“God is bringing home even non-Jewish Israel,” I told them in broken Hebrew yet, “and if you do not oppose what God is doing it will go well for you, but if you resist, it will be like ‘spitting’ against the wind.”  (See the account of the “sign” that accompanied this Word).  But about six months later the Palestinian uprising began. Two days before the violence broke out, some of my Palestinian friends visited me on my rooftop and told me I must leave the village; that there was going to be trouble.  Two days later, Palestinian youths from that village were rolling huge boulders down the mountainside aimed at traffic below.

Later, as I was writing the Speech that Nobody Heard, I got the same sense Isaac must have had after speaking to Esau. “Now Esau harbored hatred toward Jacob.” (Genesis 27:41a) The seeds of hatred sown by Esau millennia ago had come home to roost and from now on words alone would have no effect.

1.  The map at left compared with the outline at above right, (oriented by the Dead Sea), shows the head and crown region at top right as the ancient biblical inheritance of the non-Jewish House of Joseph, the tribes of Ephraim and M’nashe and part of Benjamin. These were the two sons of Joseph, who was the eldest of Rachel and Joseph’s younger brother, whose birth resulted in his mother, Rachel’s death.

2.  The prophet Jeremiah wrote more than 2,700 years ago in response to Rachel’s weeping for her children, long after her death that her children (the House of Joseph) would return to their biblical borders in the last days.  (Jeremiah 31:15-18).  These territories of Joseph also comprise the Birthright of Jacob.

3.  The head region (Shomron) is set apart by the God of Israel for a holy purpose; to return the non-Jewish House of Joseph to reconcile and reunite with the Jewish House of Judah, who has largely already returned.  These two houses of Israel hailed from two brothers, one jealous of the other, but who were reconciled before their deaths. However, their sons’ enmities and vexations have left the scars of a split kingdom, civil war and separate exiles.  This represents “unfinished business” in the family of Jacob for the God of Israel. Else, the light “Israel” is charged with becoming to the nations and the Word guaranteeing its bright shining expose God as a hypocrite.

In the same place where it was said of you, Lo-ami, (Not My People), you shall be called the sons of the living God.” (Hosea 2:1)

That place demands a return of Joes and the non-Jewish “House of Israel.”

4.  The prophet Obadiah’s vision of the House of Esau in the Last Days, at the time when Jacob would be returned to his possessions, indicates those possessions — including the Birthright of Jacob would be occupied by the “House of Esau.” Obadiah, himself a descendant of Esau, has tried to connect prophetically with the Palestinians living today in Judea-Samaria, formerly known as the “West Bank” of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.  Biblically and historically, these Palestinians today because of where they live — in the Birthright land — and their hatred of “Jacob” are “the House of Esau.”  Obadiah’s is a disinterested voice in whom the Palestinians must listen. Their lives depend on it. And any nation’s foreign policy that supports a state for Esau in this Birthright region, merits the most serious of all biblically ordained curses:

God of Israel to Abraham: “I will bless those who bless you, but those who curse you I will cause to be cursed and in your seed all families of the earth shall be nivrecu (grafted or intermingled according Chizkuni, Daas Zekeinim, Rashbam and Tur).”

NOTE:  Esau’s historic hatred of Jacob is explained by the concept of incompatible “leumim” discussed below. Esau is a different “leum” (a people with the same or a compatible interest and mindset) than his brother, Jacob to whom this promise of blessing by God applies.

5.  Obadiah‘s vision urges the disengagement of the entire House of Esau from these territories of Joseph and concludes that those who remained would be annihilated.

“The House of Jacob shall be a fire, and the House of Joseph the flame and the House of Esau for stubble and I will kindle in them and devour them and not one shall remain from the House of Esau.” (Obadiah 17ff)

THE STATUS QUO:

 6.  A two-state solution was alluded to by the biblical prophet, Zechariah, some 2,600 years ago, according to our EXEGESIS, which examines the content of the prophecy in its context. The context includes both the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the worldwide spiritual move to unite and reconcile the House of Joseph with the House of Judah and return at least a remnant of the House of Joseph to its territories.

This contiguous Palestinian state (outlined in red in the maps above and below) is the domain of a fearful and sorrowful people whose “expectation” (connected to Lebanon and Syria) was ashamed. Zechariah referred to this people as P’lishtim, as the Palestinians also were called in the Arabic used by Yasser Arafat.  Zechariah observed their dwellings in the contiguous region of the Gaza, Ashdod, Ashqelon and Ekron. He also called their leader an “aluf” (chief or master) in Judah. But the state Zechariah described was “conditional.” Further, it would be orchestrated solely by the God of Israel.

God would first cause the “cutting off” of the “pride of the P’lishtim.” Cutting off the “pride” of an entire people, would to our thinking minds, suggest a mother of a war or a depression or some calamitous event. In the individual, the defense of ego is central and basic, even primal.  Nationalism has bred the same defense shrouded in such things as patriotism. But the national ego can also get out of control. Let’s call this “ultra-Nationalism” that defines the passionate “free will” of the people. But when the free national will contradicts THE Will, regarding Judea-Samaria and the reconciliation of Joes and Jews, for instance, the passion in that opposing will must be quelled.

A 3-D topographical map of Israel shows first that the “mountains of Israel” on which the House of Israel will reunite with the House of Judah (a biblical name for the modern Jewish state) lie almost entirely in Judea-Samaria.  This same region as a Palestinian state would make Israel virtually undefendable from a high-ground attack in Judea-Samaria. Denied their ultra-Nationalistic aim, it becomes necessary as Zechariah states to:

1) Take away the blood out of his mouth.

2) Take away the abominations from between his teeth.

In the context of current events and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the blood removed could figuratively relate to the ongoing terrorist attacks accompanied by shouts of “Allah Akhbar,” which would cease.  This could occur with the simple realization by both sides that Israel swore an oath to the God of Israel and to His (the God of Israel’s) Allah long before the time of Muhammad.   (The job of this Allah as described in Deuteronomy 29 is to “enforce” the imprecation or curses outlined in Deuteronomy 28).  Israel’s freedom from any of its enemies has always relied on its observance of Torah and Torah-based revivals.  When Israeli religious leaders reflect on the Torah not being considered in connection with this problem, they will come to the realization that it relates to the exclusion of the House of Joseph.

The abominations coming from between his teeth could be interpreted as the Palestine National Charter calling for the removal of the Zionist state and the death of all Israelis.  Despite much political rhetoric and maneuvering and promises to amend the charter, those terms remain.

As an aluf in Judah, the Palestinian state envisioned by Zechariah, may not be totally autonomous and would remain part of Israel, just as all states of the United States remain part of the U.S.

8.  The “Zechariah Plan,” would involve the transfer or “disengagement” of Palestinians from Judea-Samaria to new homes, pastures and orchard lands in a contiguous region generally known in the Bible as “the plain of the Philistines.”  The Israelite tribe of Dan, which was given this region as its inheritance, failed to conquer its enemies and was eventually relocated to the North in the region of the Golan Heights. Victory in those early battles was tied to Walking the Walk. Obviously the tribe of Dan didn’t.  The Philistines, progenitor of the Palestinians in etymology and geography, but not necessarily geneaology, thrived.  At least until Israel Walks its Walk, the Palestinians have biblical precedent to the plain of the Philistines AND to be as thorns and bees as servants of “Allah.”

Thanks to State Department intervention in the Heavenly system of justice,  the thorns today are deadly roadside bombs and bees sting like terrorists.   Until the U.S. State Department began forcing Israel to succumb to the PLO’s demands for a Palestinian state in Judea-Samaria, Creator’s system of justice was in place.  The superior school systems, public transportation systems and services being provided in Jewish communities as opposed to Palestinian communities was pointed out in the Israeli media and was being addressed.

But when the State Department began insisting on a halt to infrastructure development and housing in Judea-Samaria, the State Department became at odds with the Zechariah Plan.  The Bush Road Map to Peace in the Middle East, as it was styled, blatantly stole the Birthright of Jacob given to Joseph in allocating it as part of this proposed unbiblical, non-contiguous and suicidal Palestinian State.

So if there ever was a nation for which a hands-off policy might be the best policy, it should be Israel, who will be judged by Creator directly and it is safe to say guided by Creator and who has been admonished to dwell “apart from the nations.”

8.  The Plain of the P’lishtim is loosely defined by the  fertile Sh’felah region contiguous with the Gaza and coastal cities to the north including Ashqelon and Ashdod.  The plan also involves further “disengagements” of the Jewish populations in the contiguous area comprising Ashdod, Ashqelon and Ekron.  This follows already heart-wrenching disengagements from Jewish populations in the Gaza area.

Considering that the Palestinians would get much more fertile land and favorable environs, the disengagement would be warranted.  Palestinians and Israelis required to disengage in this region would receive better houses, orchards, gardens and facilities than they had before disengagement.  The plan, modeled after a more humane and abbreviated version of the Cherokee Removals — thus it has international precedent — could be carried out in a few weekends obligating no moves more than 5 hours.

The trade off would be to separate the two different leumim into two contiguous states, permanently, providing security-controlled access highways to link both states and initially a superhighway to Jerusalem to accommodate prayers at the Al Aksa Mosque.

9. The contiguity is necessary as explained above to separate the two nations into two contiguous states and two “leumim.” This was prophesied of the two families, Jacob and Esau, to their mother, Rebecca, when the two unborn boys “agitated” in her womb.  The two would be unable to co-exist and one would be in ascendancy over the other … for life. Thus, each “leum” represents a people whose ideology and mindset differs … and conflicts. This mandates separate and contiguous states for each.

10. The northern two-thirds of Judea-Samaria (the head and crown region in the outline) vacated by the Palestinians would revert to new immigrants who are neither Jewish nor Palestinian.  They are “the House of Joseph.” Biblically and historically, these include Ephraim and M’nashe and part of Benjamin.

According to the Bible, the greatest concentration of Ephraim dwells in the coastal regions of the Earth including the coastal Americas.  The greatest concentration of M’nashe is split into two regions.

I.  The people identified along ancient southern Chinese trade routes in India, Burma, Thailand and other areas of Southeast Asia.  These refugees provide an immediate source of population to inhabit the Shomron as they are homeless and starving.  Rabbi  Eliyahu Avichayil in his book “Ha-Shevitim” (The Tribes) identifies  some 2 million “Shinlung” refugees as part of M’nashe.

II. Native Americans.  Research is ongoing through the Equahiyi-Wasi, a society formed by the Central Band Cherokee under the direction of past principal chief Joe “Sitting Owl” White,  to research archaeological, historical/cultural, linguistic, DNA and spiritual links between all Native American nations and “Abraham” and “Moses.”   The biblical story of a family of M’nashe separated from his brothers could point to Israelite East M’nashe among the 38 Athapascan Language Group nations including the Apache and the Navajo.  Or the set-apart family could be descendants of the Hopi migrating from Mexico and South and Central America and returning to the American Southwest and other parts of the U.S., in accordance with Native American prophesies that predate anything American on this continent.

This means the House of Joseph is shaping up to be a “refugee population” displaced largely by coming Earth changes that will affect coastal regions and “short-sighted” immigration policies in the U.S.

It also means that the Joes worldwide are more than sufficient to dilute the Palestinian majority population in the Shomron so that Israel may proceed with annexation of the region without legitimizing the politics of Palestinian ultra-Nationalism.  And that means many Palestinians may be persuaded to leave the Birthright of Joseph and find their biblical state as described in Zechariah 9.

And for the Israeli political party who solicits and invites the Joes to fulfill the vision of Zion, as a reunion of Joes and Jews, there is a ready-made political constituency of more than 2.5 million, with millions more eventually spilling over into Lebanon and the Gilead  (Zechariah 10:10ff).
